SPAM® Monkey Bread

This award winning SPAM® dessert has only gotten better, moving from first place to the grand prize winner in only a year! It's sweet and savoury, chock full of SPAM® with Real HORMEL® Bacon, butter biscuits, cinnamon, honey, and maple bourbon.

  • 1 (340g) can SPAM® with Real HORMEL® Bacon
  • 2 (340g) cans refrigerated butter flavored biscuits
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 tbsp maple flavored bourbon
  • 10-inch tube pan
  • Cooking spray


  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F/175°C.
  2. Thoroughly grease a 10-inch fluted tube pan with cooking spray.
  3. Dice the SPAM® with Real Hormel® Bacon into 1/4-inch cubes.
  4. In a skillet, brown the SPAM® cubes over medium heat until crisp. Transfer it to a paper towel-lined plate to cool.
  5. Meanwhile, cut each biscuit into 8 pieces.
  6. Combine the sugar and cinnamon in a large plastic bag.
  7. Add the biscuit pieces in small batches. For each batch, seal the bag and shake until the pieces are evenly coated.
  8. Layer 1/3 of the diced SPAM® with Real Hormel® Bacon into the pan.
  9. Layer half the sugared biscuit pieces on top, then sprinkle with 1/3 more of SPAM® with Real Hormel® Bacon.
  10. Top with the remaining biscuit pieces and remaining SPAM® with Real Hormel Bacon, then set aside.
  11. In a small pot, melt the butter over medium-low heat and continue cooking until browned, about 5 minutes.
  12. Whisk in brown sugar, honey, and bourbon until smooth, then pour evenly over biscuits.
  13. Bake 30-35 minutes or until the biscuits are cooked through. Allow the bread to cool slightly, then flip over onto the baking sheet or platter and serve immediately.
