SPAM® and Black Beans with Rice

Add some spice to your rice. Serve it with cumin, cayenne, and SPAM® Classic for a zesty flavour that's sure to wow the crowd.


  • 1 (340g) can SPAM® Classic, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup long-grain rice
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 tbsp butter or margarine
  • 1 (425g) can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (425g) can Cajun stewed tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/8 tsp ground red pepper (or cayenne pepper)


  1. Cook the rice according to package.
  2. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, sauté the SPAM® Classic, onion, and bell pepper in butter until the onion is softened and the SPAM® Classic is lightly browned.
  3. Stir in the beans, tomatoes, cumin, and cayenne into skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the beans are heated thoroughly. Serve over hot rice.
