SPAM® Chips

Ingredients

Serving: 4

  • 1 can SPAM® Less Sodium, sliced into ½ cm thin
  • Cooking oil, for deep frying
  • Spiced vinegar for serving
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • ½ tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Pinch of pepper
  • Chopped onion
  • Minced garlic

Procedure

1. Prepare spiced vinegar by mixing all ingredients together, set aside.
2. Preheat oil to 370 degrees F.
3. Slice SPAM® Less Sodium into thin pieces and deep frying for 2-3 minutes or until slighty brown.
4. Serve with spiced vinegar.

Crispy SPAM® Steak

Ingredients

Prep Time: 20 min
Cook Time: 15 min
Serving: 4

  • 1 can SPAM® Black Pepper, sliced into 8
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 pc egg, beaten
  • 2 cups panko (Japanese breadcrumbs)
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Tonkotsu or sweet chili sauce for serving

Procedure

1. Preheat oil to 375 degrees F.
2. While waiting for the oil, prepare SPAM® Black Pepper.
3. Dredge SPAM® Black Pepper slice in flour, dip in egg and then coat with bread crumbs.
4. Repeat with the rest of the ingredients.
5. Deep fry in oil for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown.
6. Serve warm with sauce on the side.

SPAM® Chopsuey

Ingredients

Prep Time: 20 min
Cook Time: 15 min
Serving: 4

  • ½ can SPAM® Lite, slice then cut into strips (about 0.5cm)
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 small carrot, sliced oblique
  • 2 cups cabbage, chopped
  • ½ cup button mushrooms, halved
  • ½ cup young corn, halved
  • ¼ cup sliced bell peppers
  • ¼ cup oyster sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Splash of water if dry (optional depending on quality of vegetables)
  • Cornstarch slurry to thicken sauce (optional)

Procedure

1. Heat oil in pan, sauté garlic and onion.
2. Add SPAM® Lite strips and sauté for another minute.
3. Add broccoli and carrots, cook for a minute.
4. Add cabbage; and cook for another minute.
5. Add the rest of the ingredients and season with oyster sauce.
6. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

SPAM® Puto

Ingredients

Cook Time: 20-30 min
Serving: 6

  • 1 can SPAM® Classic, cubed ½cm
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 ½ tbsp baking powder
  • 1 pc egg
  • ¾ cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Procedure

1. In a mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients starting from the flour, sugar, and baking powder then mix well.
2. Add the butter, evaporated milk, egg, water and vanilla then mix all the ingredients thoroughly.
3. Mix in SPAM® Classic cubes.
4. Pour the mixture in individual molds.
5. Steam for 10-15 minutes.

SPAM® Bibingka

Ingredients

Yields 15-18 Servings

  • SPAM® 1-2 cans of SPAM® Classic (cut into slices 1cm wide x 3cm long)
  • 1 ½ kg laon rice, washed and soaked overnight with water (just enough to cover rice)
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • ¾ kg sugar
  • ½ bar butter, melted
  • ¼ cup + 2 tbsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp yeast
  • 1 cup gata
  • 10 whole eggs
  • Banana Leaf
  • Option: Slices of cheese

Procedure

1. Soak rice overnight, then drain
2. Add water to 1” (2.5cm) above the rice
3. Grind soaked rice twice in food processor or blender, or ask your “suki” in the market to grind it for you
4. Blend the following in a medium bowl:
5. 1 can evaporated milk
6. 1 cup coconut milk
7. ¾ kg sugar
8. 1/4 bar butter, melted
9. ¼ cup + 2 tbsp baking powder
10. 2 tbsp yeast
11. Let mixture sit for 1 hour
12. After 1 hour, add 10 whole eggs
13. Line molder with banana leaf and scoop ½ to ¾ cup (depending on size of molder) of Bibingka mix
14. Top generously with slices of SPAM® Classic. Add cheese if desired
15. Bake in over for 25-30 minutes or until cooked
16. Brush on remaining ¼ bar of butter (melted), and dust with sugar

SPAM® Lumpia

Ingredients

Yields 10-12 big crispy rolls

  • 1 can of SPAM® Classic, julienne cut
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1½ tbsp fish sauce (patis)
  • ¼ of whole cabbage, shredded
  • 1/8 kg baguio beans, thinly sliced, slant
  • 1 pc medium size orange sweet yam (peeled, sliced julienne cut)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 10-15 pcs big fresh spring roll wrapper

Procedure

1. In a medium sauté pan, sauté onions and garlic with oil. Season with fish sauce
2. Add SPAM® Classic and all vegetables (except for shredded cabbage)
3. Simmer for 10-15 minutes until vegetables are cooked but still crunchy
4. Add shredded cabbage last. Season to taste with salt and pepper
5. Drain and let cool
6. When cooled, scoop 1 ½ - 2 tbsp of SPAM® Classic/vegetable filling onto the fresh big spring roll wrapper. Roll and secure with flour/water paste
7. Deep fry until golden brain. Drain onto strainer.
8. Serve with either: sweet and sour sauce or vinegar; minced garlic; chopped red onions/chili sauce

SPAM® Pandesal

Ingredients

Yields 8 sandwiches

  • 1 can of SPAM® Classic, sliced into 8 pieces
  • 8 medium size Pandesal
  • 8 slices of tomato
  • 8 pcs of lettuce

Procedure

1. Pan-fry sliced SPAM® Classic. Set aside
2. Slice Pandesal cross-wise (toast if preferred). Spread on catsup or mayonnaise if desired
3. Assemble sandwiches:

  • Spread mayo or catsup (if desired) on bun heel
  • Place lettuce
  • Place sliced tomato
  • Top with pan-fried slices of SPAM® Classic
  • Put top of pandesal on top
4.Serve warm or as is

SPAM® Puso

Ingredients

Yields approximately 10 Puso pouches

  • 1 can of SPAM® Classic, cut into smaller cubes
  • 10 puso (pouches)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 medium sized onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1½ cup white rice, washed

Procedure

1. In a medium saucepan, sauté SPAM® Classic, onion and garlic in oil. Season to taste. Set aside
2. In a bigger bowl, mix washed rice with sautéed SPAM® Classic mixture
3. Fill Puso (pouches) with 1/3 of the rice/ SPAM® Classic mixture. Do not completely fill pouches as rice will expand as it cooks
4. Gather around 6 to 8 Puso and tie together. Gather the rest of the Puso and tie them together.
5. Boil for 20-25 minutes or until rice is cooked

SPAM® Sisig

Ingredients

Yields 1 serving sizzling platter

  • 1 can of SPAM® Classic, diced
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 medium sized onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ calamansi
  • 1 pc green chili, sliced
  • 1 pc red chili labuyo (optional), thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg

Procedure

1. In a medium sauté pan, heat vegetable oil. Add diced SPAM® Classic, onions and garlic. Simmer for 10-15 minutes (cook longer if one desired a crispier SPAM® Classic sisig)
2. Add calamansi juice, green chili, red chili (if using). Season to taste
3. Heat sizzling platter
4. While sizzling platter is heating, heat vegetable oil in a medium sauté pan and make a sunny side up egg
5. Add a pad of butter to heated sizzling platter, then pour cooked SPAM® Classic mixture onto platter and top it with sunny side up egg

SPAM® Spaghetti

Ingredients

  • 1 can of SPAM® Classic
  • 50 grams raw spaghetti
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 250 grams Tomato Parmesan Cheese Sauce
  • Parmesan cheese as needed
  • Basil leaves as garnish
  • Garlic bread (optional)

Procedure

1. Boil spaghetti noodles in salted water and cook according to package directions.
2. In a medium sauce pan, sauté onions and garlic. Add diced SPAM® Classic. Cook for about 10 min.
3. Add 250 grams Tomato Parmesan cheese sauce. Simmer for another 10-15 minutes. Season to taste.
4. Divide cooked noodles onto pasta bowls, top with SPAM® Classic sauce. 
5. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese, garnish with basil leaves and serve with garlic bread if desired.
